The identification badge shown below was used at Swakopmund Concentration Camp, Deutsch Südwestafrika. The badges were not quite as secure or permanent as the tattoos later used by the Third Reich to identify their concentration camp inmates, and not as varied as the patches of yellow Stars (Jews), pink triangles (homosexuals), green triangles (criminals) and red triangles (political prisoners), but they were a good start.
